Madrid rider, Paloma Jiménez Díaz was pronounced the Spanish Minors, Children’s Dressage Champion winning gold with her 15yr old mare, ‘Gitana’. This pair won their final round today with 70.294%, giving them a cumulative score of 214.649% across the three rounds. The official medal ceremony will be tomorrow where all the winners in each category of the Minors will be announced.
Taking second place today and also silver overall was Jorge Samper Lostao con ‘Sevillano Aran’ from Aragon with a cumulative score of 212.801. In overall bronze position was David García García from Murcia with ‘Pippin’s Playboy’, with 210.004 and who actually took fourth place in today’s round.
Third was in fact taken by Andalucían rider, Sofía Barroso Keska with ‘Quaterback’ and fifth was another Andalucían rider, Unai Vázquez Román with ‘Paymoguero’.
In the rest of todays rounds the results were as follows:
Hugo Melida Gómez from Castilla y León won once again, in the second 1* Juniors qualifier with his CDE mare, ‘Goya A’, who is by ‘Tornado’; their score was 71.382 and they kept their lead in this category of the Championships. The final round is tomorrow and will begin at 09:15 in the Milton arena; this is a a Kür test and the top 18 riders will take part to decide the final Championship placings.
Second in this section, was Álvaro López Rey from Madrid with ‘Crumel’, and 70.118%, and this result ensured that they maintained their silver position overall. Two Andalucían riders took the next places; Andrea Lozano Cadenas with Roland (69.235%), in third and keeping bronze place overall; and in fourth, was Daniela Cruz Abreu with ‘Valentina’ (69.059%). Alfonso Ruíz Velasco was fifth riding ‘De Yakare’ (68.853%).
Basque rider, Maite Cavaliere Di Penta with ‘Future Project’ took the top spot in the Juniors 0* class with a really top score of 73.194%, well ahead of the rest of the field. Balearic rider, María Pons Fortuny with ‘Ruby’ was second with 69.581%; third was Maialen Lazkano Ugarte with ‘Cizur de Bariain’. Andalucían riders, Flavia Molina Domecq with ‘Ambar de Tirri’ and Curro Ramírez Morales with ‘Golden Boy’ made up the Top-5 in this section.
In the overall championship standings Maite Cavaliere and 'Future Project' are in gold with a total of 145.129 points and a clear advantage over their main rivals, Maialen Lazkano with 137.033 and Curro Ramírez with 136.194. The final will be held tomorrow at 09:00 in arena 8A.
In the second Infants qualifier round, Alfonso Roig Bonilla and ‘Strandgaards Doleys’ took the top spot with a spectacular test and a score of 74%. Martina González Muñoz from Madrid with ‘Sir Creyente’ were second with 72.950 and in third was Manuel Crespo de Arriba from Castilla y León with 'Grato' and 72.875%. Andalucían Marta Cabezas Rueda with 'Fiederglanz' took fourth, and Basque rider, Lucía García Tellería with 'Opium' took fifth.
In the provisional leaderboard, Alfonso Roig is in gold, Martina González and Luis García in Silver and bronze respectively. The final in this category is tomorrow 12:00 in arena 8B.
The Young Rider’s also have their Kür final tomorrow and this will be at 12:10 in arena 5. The medal ceremony will take place at 15:00 in this same arena.
CAN** National Carriage Competition
In addition to the Spanish Minors Dressage Championships, Montenmedio’s equestrian facilities are also hosting a CAN** National Carriage Competition this weekend as part of the 5th Andalucían October Tour. Today, the dressage and cones sections were held, with a total of 14 participants: eight 3* singles ; two 3* pairs; and four 3* fours.
In the cones, Carlos Castiñeira took first place in the singles category, finishing the test in a time of 2:53.50 without any cone penalties and 2.75 points. Francisco Galán was the winner in the pairs section, and Eduart Simonet was the best in the fours, with a clean round and just 1.28 points.
In the dressage; Ana Muñoz was top of her class, the singles, with 67,8%; Francisco Galán was also in the top spot in the pairs section with 57% and Antonio Carrillo was the winner of the fours with 64.4%.
In the overall results Ana Muñoz leads the singles with a total of 54.41 points; Francisco Galán leads the pairs with 87.08 points; and Antonio Carrillo leads the fours with 68.10 points.
The final score will be decided tomorrow with the marathon, which will be held from 10:00 onwards and is always an exciting and eventful final to this wonderful sport.
