The CSI2* and the CSIYH* both began today here at Montenmedio. The biggest class of the day was the 1.45 Catunambú Trophy which was a speed class. The winner was the British rider, James Wilson with the 11yr old mare, ’Quality Time of Picobello Z’ who is by ‘Querlybet Hero’ and owned by Heather Larson, stopped the clock in 57.99s. In second place in 59.19s was Hungarian rider, László Tóth, with ‘Toll Central’ a 9yr old Cornet Obolensky’ x ‘Accarat’ gelding, this was not the only second place for László today, as he also took second places in both the 1.35 and the 7yr old classes and was one of the winners in the 1.30. In third place was the Dutch rider, Finn Boerekamp with the 11yr old grey gelding, ‘Jay Jay Es' who is by ‘Big Star’ x ’Jumbo Jet’. In fourth was Emma Emanuelsson from Sweden with ‘Ladina’ and in fifth was British, William Fletcher riding ‘Quintine van d’Abdijhoeve’.
The 1.40 was a 2PH Sp and was won by Italian rider, Luca Moneta who was riding ‘El Capone RK’ who is 16yrs old and by ‘Cardento’. They stopped the clock in the second phase in 27.69s. In second and third places were British riders, Jessica Hewlett with the 12yr old gelding ‘Invito’ who is by ‘Ultimo’ in 28.55s; closely followed by Ben Walker with ‘Creevy Pacino Cruise’ who is by ‘Pacino’ in 28.59s. Fourth place was taken by Spanish, Patricio Valdenebro del Rey with ‘Klimax van het Lindehof’ and fifth was another British rider, Alex Bishop with ‘Thomascourt Emirates’.
The 1.35 was also a speed class, the fastest through the finish line in 57.34s, was Estelle Gerard from Belgium with ‘Jedam’, a 16yr old gelding by ‘Nonstop’ x ‘Feinschnidt I vd Richter’ In second place in 58.25s, was László Tóth with ‘Conmir T’, an 8yr old by ‘Cornet Obolensky’ x Accarat’. In third was British, Daisy McKinlay with ‘Darjeeling Desir’, a 12yr old stallion by ‘Mozart des Hayettes’ x ‘Gabyscion’. Fourth was Ellinor Liwing with ‘Cikoria Sa’ for Sweden and in fifth was British rider, Eleanor Hall McAteer with ‘Ceylon’.
In the 1.30 was divided into two, the winners were; László Tóth, who has the fastest clear of the day, 60.28s with his own 12yr old mare, ‘Ching’ (‘Stauffenberg’ x ‘Justboy’). The other first place went to British rider, Emily Ward with ‘Millfield Lottery’ owned by Angela Hunt, in 62.24s. Both second places were taken by British riders, Jessica Hewlett, this time riding the 12yr old, ’Ilmer HBC’ (‘Dantos’ x ‘Voltaire Pref’) in 63.09s and Adrian Whiteway with ‘A Special Diamond HST Z’
Ophelie Richard Sanchez with ‘Good Feeling Semilly’ for Mexico was third alongside Cyril Cools from Belgium with ‘Cunenvio EB’
In the 1.20 Algerian rider, Othman Hamadi with ‘Catang des Forets’ (by Messier Ardent’) took the top spot on the podium with a very fast time of 62.51s. Majid Djaidi and ‘Dragon' from Morocco were second in 66.16s. The next three places went to British riders, third was Amelia Keen with ‘Forked Lightning’; fourth was Paris Walker Smith with ‘Dominica’ and fifth was Grace Gilbert with ‘Bonnie’.
The 7yr olds had a 2Ph Sp class. There were 39 competitors and the winner was ‘Invictrix Bois Chenu’ a mare by ‘Action Breaker’, dam sire ‘Fetiche du Pas’ and ridden by Belgian, Antoni Draga, the pair stopped the clock in 36.76s, over two seconds in front of ‘Karolina’ a mare by ‘Kannan’, DS ‘Accarat’ and ridden by László Tóth his third podium place today. In third was ‘Ultimo N Z’ a chestnut gelding ridden by the British rider Ronnie Jones; fourth was ‘Kimmich’ (Karajan’ x Diarado’) ridden by Rikke Vingborg for Denmark and in fifth was another Danish pair, ‘Mercedes’ (Million Dollar’ x Chacco-Blue’) ridden by Kasper H Hanson.
Tomorrow there are eight classes including one 1.45, Longings Ranking class. The whole event is sponsored by the Junta de Andalucía, thorough the Consejería de Turismo and Andalucía Exterior, and also the Diputación Provincial de Cádiz.
