The Andalucía Sunshine Tour Hosts the Prelude to the Young Horse Finals

Vejer, February 17, 2026.

The opening day of the third week of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour marked the decisive round for young horses, serving as the prelude to the finals to be held on Wednesday at Dehesa Montenmedio. Among the winners was HH Atlanta de Arezzo, ridden by Spain’s Jesús Garmendia.

Nearly five hundred participants shaped the opening day of the third week of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, in a day defined by intensity and a high sporting standard. For some, the main objective was to secure qualification for the young horse finals taking place tomorrow; for others, it was about fine-tuning sensations and completing preparations ahead of the major event. Competition took place across four arenas, all presented in excellent condition and offering a superb atmosphere at the Cádiz venue, once again reinforcing the circuit’s international appeal.

In the 8-year-old category, victory went to HH Atlanta de Arezzo (Arezzo VDL x Diamant de Semilly), ridden by Jesús Garmendia, who set the fastest time among the 98 starters to claim his second win on the circuit. Second place went to Sniper des Lilas Blancs (Hamilton du Chapitre x Calvaro Z), who arrived after winning all three classes last weekend with German rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop.

The 7-year-old classes, with 150 combinations competing, highlighted the high sporting level of the circuit. Victories went to Tullibards Pandora (Tullibards Bennys Legacy x Grandeur), ridden by Cathak Daniels, and to Tapis-Plain van de Lentamel (Kasanova de la Pomme x Limbo), ridden by Belgium’s Ignace Philips de Vuyst.

In the 6-year-old category, which brought together more than 140 participants, Ignace Philips de Vuyst once again stood out, taking victory with Ovunque Sei di Ca’ San Giorgio (Chacfly PS x Mr Blue). Thorin von der Mittelerde (Tobago Z x Untouchable), ridden by Germany’s Marius Brinkmann, also delivered a notable performance. Among the Spanish combinations, Project El, a son of Carrera VDL ridden by Álvaro González de Zárate, once again shone, finishing second and recording his fifth clear round in six starts at the Dehesa Montenmedio circuit. Champion 2000 Z, by Cornet Obolensky out of a Cosmeo mare and also ridden by González de Zárate, placed sixth, confirming the Spanish rider’s consistency.

As is customary, the 5-year-old classes were run under Table A without a stopwatch, meaning that all combinations completing the course without penalties shared first place. In the first class, 14 of the 26 starters jumped clear, while in the second class 15 combinations finished fault-free.

The Andalucía Sunshine Tour is sponsored by the Government of Andalusia, through the Ministry of Tourism and Andalusia Abroad, and by the Provincial Council of Cádiz—an institutional backing that strengthens the event’s international profile and its sporting, economic, and tourism impact on the region.
