The Andalucía Sunshine Tour reaches its fourth week of competition with a CSI2*, a CSIYH and a CSNP

Wednesday, 26th of February 2026

The winter circuit reaches its halfway point in the 2026 edition with an average of more than 2,200 horses at the Dehesa Montenmedio facilities during the first three weeks of competition.

Starting today, Wednesday 26th with the veterinary inspection and running until Sunday March 1st, a new week of competition begins — the fourth of the 2026 season in Vejer de la Frontera — featuring a CSI2* that will close the month of February and lead into the final three weeks of the tour. Around 400 riders from 37 different nationalities will take part in the CSI2* and CSIYH1*, which will run in parallel from tomorrow, Thursday. The sporting programme includes a total of 44 international classes across both CSIs, including those for young horses aged 5, 6 and 7, as well as two Longines Ranking classes within the CSI2*, with more than €100,000 in prize money to be distributed over the four days of competition. The event receives institutional support from the Junta de Andalucía — through the Regional Ministry of Tourism and Andalucía Exterior — and the Provincial Council of Cádiz.

By nationality, British riders lead participation with a total of 50 athletes and more than 120 horses, followed by the Spanish contingent with 44 national competitors and 80 horses, and the Irish delegation with 31 riders and 52 horses. French, German, Belgian, Dutch, Swiss, Portuguese, Nordic countries and the United States also present a significant number of participants. In total, participation exceeds 700 horses for a CSI2*, exceptionally high numbers for this level of competition. Countries such as China, India, Turkey, Israel, Australia and South Korea will also be represented in Montenmedio, highlighting the global importance of the Andalucía Sunshine Tour, with representatives from all five continents travelling from around the world to enjoy its unrivalled facilities, world-class arenas and obstacle equipment, a warm and sunny climate unique to Cádiz at this time of year and, of course, top-level sport all in one place — the Dehesa Montenmedio and its Andalucía Sunshine Tour. Alongside the international competition, pony enthusiasts will also enjoy a CSNP this week, included within the sporting programme and counting towards the Copa de Campeones. The course designer for this fourth week will be Spanish International FEI Level 2 Luis González Molina.
